Keeping Up With the Joneses

Myles had his 2 month appointment on Thursday and is perfectly healthy. He is in the 67th percentile for weight (12 lbs 10 oz) and 82nd percentile for height. I can't believe he's grown so much! He had to get 4 shots and had a fever the next day but is doing great now.

Mason is really trying to be helpful. Yesterday Marshall and I were trying to clean up after dinner while Mason and Myles were downstairs. All of a sudden Myles started crying and we heard Mason shouting "help! help! Myles is too heavy!" We ran downstairs and Mason was trying to get Myles out of his swing. Poor Myles was hanging on for dear life!

Mason is missing his grandma Delta so much. She was here Monday and Tuesday of last week to help me when I threw out my back, and then we spent Thursday, Friday, and Saturday camping with her. On Wednesday, our one day without her, Mason wanted to watch Thomas. We only usually let him watch Thomas with his grandma or a babysitter, so we said no. Later that evening we were talking on the phone to her and Mason said he wanted to talk to her. He started crying to her "mommy and daddy not let me watch Thomas. . .you come get me and take me to your house?" Then on Sunday morning he woke up crying that he wanted his grandma Delta. The poor boy just loves his grandma!

We went camping with Marshall's family this week. Well, sort of. I went up with Mason and Myles on Thursday morning, Marshall came up for dinner, and we left Mason there Thursday night. Marshall worked Friday and came back up for dinner and stayed overnight with Mason while Myles and I slept at home. We had a great time. As you can see, Mason really liked helping set up the tent!

A few cute things lately: * Mason has a toy that sings "Pop Goes the Weasel" but he goes around singing "Popcorn the Diesel 10". (Diesel 10 is his favorite train right now). * Mason was looking at pictures of his grandma Goates graduating on the blog the other day and said "grandma Goates is a station man". I guess he thinks her hat looks like the station man hats from his Thomas movies

My great grandpa hall passed away last wednesday and his funeral is today. Unfortunately, plane tickets were over $1000 each and driving with a nursing 6 weeks old and a 2 year old by myself was out of the question (Marshall has a tight deadline at work). So I am really missing him today and wish we could be celebrating his life with everyone. Grandpa Hall did sealings at the temple every wednesday for the last countless years, and we wanted to remember him by doing sealings today, but unfortunately I threw my back out. Hopefully we can do it this week. Here is a picture of me, Mason, and Grandpa Hall at his 100th birthday party last January. He was an amazing man and someone I will be telling my kids about for a very long time.

I totally threw out my back yesterday and haven't been able to move. This morning Marshall got up with Mason and around 7:30 Mason came into my room and said "mommy! Get out of bed!" I told him I couldn't because my back hurt and he said "my back hurts too" and walked around the room like I did yesterday, crouched over. All morning he has been saying his back hurts and he needs medicine.

Myles and I went to Vancouver last week to see my mom graduate with her Doctorate from Simon Fasier University. It was a blast--congratulatios Dr. Goates! This first picture is of my grandma and grandpa Milne at Granville Island. Then, the original Goates clan (plus Myles) at my mom's graduation. Finally, my mom in her funny hat.

Everyone keeps saying that Myles andMason look nothing alike, but I found this picture of Mason (bottom) at 3 months and I think he looks a lot like this picture of Myles taken last week.

Mason is at the point now where he believes the world revolves around him. A few examples: * the other day we were trying to get Mason to put his shoes on the right feet and it works if we say "do it like William does it". He said "no! William does it like Mason does it" * I was putting Myles in his crib to sleep and Mason said "when Myles wakes up and cries it is because he needs his big brother. I get him mommy, he not need you." * William came over to play this morning and when I was telling Mason that William was coming over, he said "William will be so happy to see me!"

We had Myles' baby blessing yesterday. There were about 45-50 people at the church and then for lunch at our house after. We felt so blessed to have so many loved ones supporting our little family. Myles looked adorable in a little jumper that his grandma Delta knit for him, and he was a perfect angel the whole day.

I put Mason down for a nap, and when he woke up his shirt was like this! Myles is getting so big! He is starting to smile now and coos all the time. He fits in 3-6 month clothes already! He's almost grown out of his size 2 diapers and is ready to move up to size 3s--the same size Mason wears!!
