Calling Daddy

This morning Mason was playing on our bed with my cell phone while Marshall was in the shower and I was getting ready. He was pressing some buttons and I asked him "who are you calling?" He said "daddy" and right then Marshall cell phone on the side of the bed rang! I answered it and it was Mason. It was so funny! I'm not sure if he was scrolling through the pictures on my phone, saw daddy, and called him, or what, but he wanted to call daddy so he did!

New Pics

These are pics from the Father's Day BBQ last week.

This is Mason at Chuck E Cheese for Daniel's 3rd birthday party. He had such a great time. He figured out that he could push the buttons on the rides, and he would push it over and over again. He also liked the Skee(?) ball thing where you roll the balls up the ramp. He ran out of balls and I turned around to get him another one. When I turned back around he had crawled up the ramp to where the balls fall down and was reaching down to get them out! He wouldn't come back when I asked him, so I had to crawl up there and get him out. The other picture is Mason with his cousins Liz and Megan getting ready to go outside. Thanks to Kim for both of these pictures. Mason is getting to be quite independant. Yesterday we were downstairs watching a movie, when Mason went upstairs. We heard him in the kitchen and called him to come back downstairs. He came down the stairs carrying his daddy's big bag of fruit loops. He was such a good boy to get the bag himself, but bring it down for u...

Big Weekend!

This weekend we had a BBQ for father's day and Marshall's dad's birthday. We had a great time. It was hot, so we turned the sprinkler on and the kids ran through it. Then they would take turns holding it over the slide and going down the "waterslide". Mason had a great time, as you can see from the pictures. The teepee pictures are from Grandma and Grandpa's house a few weeks ago.

Missing Mommy (or not)

Yesterday Scott babysat Mason because Kim was out of town. They had a great day. Scott had the webcam on and so I got to see Mason playing and having fun. I typed "I love you" and Scott told Mason "Mommy is in the computer and she says 'love you.'" Mason said clear as a bell "love you" and hugged the computer!! So cute. When I came home yesterday I opened the door and Mason, who was in the living room yelped with excitement. He ran into the kitchen, looked at me with eager anticipation, but when it registered that it was me and not his dad his face completely dropped. He looked back at Scott and Annie, then looked at me with a totally fake smile and turned back around to play with his toys.

Hugs

Yesterday in church there was anew family with a little boy just a month younger than Mason. Marshall tells me that in Priesthood meeting, Mason walked up to the little boy, threw his arms around him, and gave him a big hug! The other little boy was pretty surprised, but Mason was just doing what he does to all his little friends.

Growing Up

Mason is walking more than crawling now, and can get around quite fast. He also knows where his eyes, ears, nose, mouth, hair, head, and feet are. He LOVES patty-cake, itsy-bitsy spider, this little piggy, and the beehive game. In the mornings he sits on the bed while we get ready and when I look at him and act like I'm going to tickle him, he dives under the covers and crawls to the very bottom where he is sure I can't find him. Of course, his giggles give him away.

New words

Mason is learning new words everyday! Aside from "mom", "dad", "banana", "cheese", and "duck" (which he's said for a long time), he is now saying "yes", "grandma" and "grandpa" (well "gama" and "gapa"), "out", "down", "up", and much to his cousin's torment, "mine". We also swear that he said "Megan" last weekend when we were in Delta and he wanted to go wake her up.

Ball! Ball!

A few days ago, Mason and I were in Costco and I put a watermelon in the cart. As soon as Mason saw it he started calling "ball! ball". Of course it was too heavy for him to hold, and he was absolutely furious that I wouldn't give him the ball to play with. Everytime he saw it in the car or on the kitchen counter he would ask for it and then have a huge tantrum when I wouldn't give it to him. Finally last night I couldn't handle the tantrums anymore, so I cut it open and he was so happy when he saw what it was inside. He immediately started scooping out handfuls and eating it before I could even get it cut for him. He ate a ton of watermelon, and then he was thrilled when I cut up the pinapple and he ate even more of that. I think the fact that he got to eat the watermelon made up for the fact that I wouldn't let him play with the "ball".
