Myles' 6 Day Check-Up

We went to the doctor's today because when we were discharged from the hospital on Friday Myles was slightly jaundiced and the doctor wanted to check him out. It was a great appointment! Myles weighed in at 8 lbs 8.5 oz, so he has pretty much gained back his birthweight! It is such a relief that the feeding is going well. Everything else checked out great and his jaundice is gone. He is such a good baby, and is content 24/7 as long as he is held by his mommy. Once in a while we can fool him into thinking he is being held by putting him in his baby papasan vibrating chair. But I don't mind--he is such a sweetheart!

More Myles

Here is the link to the hospital picture of Myles. The photographer happened to be my old college roommate and it was nice to catch up with her. She took an extra cute picture for us :) http://www.utahportraits.com/hospital/index.php?pg=baby&action=view&BabyID=042407mbj Myles is doing so great. He's eating like a champ and being a perfect baby.

Welcome Myles

Here we go - Myles Russell Jones He is a little grumpy He is 8 lb 9 oz 21 inches he was born at 7:49 4-24-2007 Mason likes his little brother.

Rough and Tumble Boy!

This was Mason's favorite part of the Discovery Center on Wednesday. He did it over and over again, yelling "crash" when he got to the bottom.

Funny Mason Updates

* Yesterday morning I was sore and was taking a bath, and Mason came up to visit me. He asked "mommy need toys?" and put his toys in with me. Then "mommy need bubbles?" and handed me the bubble bath. Then when I was washing my hair he wanted to help and rubbed the bubbles through my hair and then told me to close my eyes while he dumped water over my head. Then he washed behind my ears and told me to get out so he could put lotion on my legs. He sure likes taking care of me! * I have to go to the hospital for my last Non-stress test today and I told Mason he was going to play with his friend Annalyce for a little while. He said "Annalyce will be so happy to see me!". He kept saying that over and over again. * Yesterday he was really resisting a nap and every 30 minutes or so he would get out of bed and come into my room and say "mommy, I'm just not tired". Well, mommy was very tired so I told him he had to lie in bed anyway. After about 2 h...

Discovery Children's Center

Image
On Wednesday Mason and I met Jessica and her niece Riley at the Children's Discovery Center in Salt Lake. Mason has been there quite a few times and it is about his favorite place on earth. They had a great time!

Negotiation

This morning Mason wanted to play but we needed him to eat breakfast so we could get going. He kept saying "no, I play" and we were saying "no, it's breakfast time". Finally he said "okay daddy, two minutes, then I eat breakfast." We couldn't resist, and after 2 minutes we called him and he came up for breakfast.

Oops!

This afternoon after Mason's nap, Marshall was outside working in the yard and I was checking my email in Marshall's office. Mason was in the basement playing trains. All of a sudden I looked up, and Mason's uncle Eric was standing there. Turns out Eric knocked and rang the doorbell (I couldn't hear either in the office) and Mason went upstairs and opened the door in just his diaper. Eric asked "um. . .are your parents home?" and Mason said "downstairs" and brought him down to me. We need to remember to use the deadbolt on that front door or who knows who Mason will let in!

Wrong Door

When Mason woke up this morning I heard him open his door and then what I thought was our door. I told him to come in but he started crying "I'm stuck". Marshall got up and opened our door and there was Mason, with his sheet and pillow, trying to walk through the wall of the closet! He had accidently opened the closet door instead of our bedroom door and in his sleepiness couldn't figure out why he couldn't get into our room. It was so cute!

Only 2 Weeks to Go!

Only 2 weeks to go until my due date and I'm getting pretty excited. I had a dr's appointment today and everything was good. I only have one more appointment left! The doctor wants me to continue the non-stress tests (I go to the hospital weekly, get an ultrasound to measure amniotic fluid, and they monitor my contractions and the baby's heartrate). He said that if the baby fails, meaning the fluid is too low or the heartbeat isn't right, he'll do a c-section early. I'm not sure what I'm hoping for. . .I definately want a healthy, big baby, but I'm also getting increasingly uncomfortable and sick of being pregnant. I only have 1 pair of pants and a few shirts that still fit even though I haven't gained weight in over a month, and my back always hurts. Having this baby next week isn't sounding so bad either.

Gordon Gets a Time-Out

This morning Mason was playing trains on the coffee table and had Gordon push Thomas off the table. I said "that wasn't nice Gordon" and Mason got down and looked Gordon in the face and said "Gordon no do that. Gordon need a time out." So he took Gordon to the stairs and put him down. Mason counted "1, 2, 3, 10. . .Gordon no hit Thomas. Gordon say sorry to Thomas" and brought Gordon over, put him by Thomas, and said "Gordon is sorry Thomas. . .no more hitting".

Ear Infection

Mason has another ear infection and is being such a trooper. Last night he just wouldn't go to sleep and he just wanted to cuddle and whine to his dad. He said his ear hurt so Marshall gave him tylenol and he went to bed around 11. I heard him whining around 1 and 3 but he went back to sleep in a few minutes. About 6 this morning he woke up crying and came into our room saying his ear hurt and asking for more tylenol. But then all morning he was happy and good. I just couldn't decide if I should take him to the dr's or not, but everytime I take him I'm glad I did so I just made the appointment for right before my prenatal checkup in the same building. The doctor looked in his ear and said it was a horrible ear infection, the eardrum was blistered, and it would probably burst this evening. The doctor couldn't believe Mason wasn't screaming. Mason slept all the way through my dr's appointment in my arms and is now home and sleeping (actually, I can hear him...

"I'm Naughty, Huh?"

I'm not feeling great tonight so I went to bed around 8 PM. At about 8:30 my door opened and in walked Mason with his Thomas sheet, pillow, and another blanket. He asked if he could sleep in my bed and because I was too lazy to put him back in bed I said okay. He was quiet for a few minutes and then said "mommy, I opened door and got in mommy's bed. . .I'm naughty, huh?" I told him it was okay and he wasn't naughty, he just missed his mom. He said "no, I'm naughty. You call daddy and tell him I'm naughty please?"

NO MORE JELLY BEANS!!

Mason has developed a severe jelly bean addiction. When we got home from Santaquin last night around 8:30 he said that he was so hungry so we asked him what he wanted. Just jelly beans. We got him to eat 2 cheese sticks and some milk. But then a little after 1 this morning Mason woke up and threw a huge, can't walk, throw himself on the floor, yelling at everyone, hitting us temper tantrum. We finally got him to calm down and understand that he was saying he was hungry. Marshall took him downstairs and opened the fridge and asked him what he wanted. You guessed it: Jelly Beans. Which led to another tantrum because there was no way he was getting jelly beans at 1:30 in the morning. We finally got him to drink some milk and go back to bed. This morning for breakfast again he wanted jelly beans. He settled for Fruit Loops. So after he was in the car this morning, I packed up all the jelly beans and took them to work to share so that we can get Mason to focus on something (anythin...

Handsome!

Mason in his handsome Easter outfit. He ate WAY too much sugar today and was bouncing off the walls all day. The poor kid just couldn't sit still and was talking non-stop.

Easter Morning

Don't Wake Me Up!

Before I go to bed every night, I open Mason's door and peak in to make sure he is okay. Last night when I opened the door the hall light came in and Mason woke up whining. Daddy went in there and asked what was wrong and he said "Mommy woke me up." Mason wouldn't go back to bed until he came in and told me "don't wake me up mommy!" Then a few hours later Mason was crying and Marshall went in to see what was wrong. He said that he wanted to wake Mommy up and make her grumpy! As Marshall was leaving him he said that the Easter Bunny might come and leave him candy. Mason said "daddy, tell Easter bunny not wake me up!" He remembered this morning. As he was gathering up his candy he said "mommy, you woke me up last night" and I said "well you wake me up every morning". He replied "mommy, we no more wake each other up, okay?"

Easter Bunny

Image
Mason was pretty excited to see what the Easter Bunny brought him this morning! At first he would only eat the blue eggs, but then he decided he liked them all. He's going to be wired for church today!

My Mommy Hit Me

On Thursday Mason and I were at Target and I bought a big laundry hamper. I was putting it over his head and into the cart and accidently brushed his head with it. He said "mommy, no hitting". I apologized and thought that was the end of it. But when we were checking out the cashier said hi to Mason and he said "my mommy hit me" and held his head like he was in pain. Later when we were walking out of the store a woman said hi to him and again he said "my mommy hit me". I had to explain. That kid is going to get me in trouble one of these days!

Marshall

Mason has been teasing Marshall by calling him "Marshall" lately. It is so funny. He says it with a twinkle in his eye and then looks at me like I'm in on the joke.

Practicing Being a Big Brother

Mason's Thomas has been in Delta all week, but he's really attached to his Bob doll. He puts it to bed a million times a day and is really cute. This morning he was rocking Bob in his rocking chair and singing to him. He then asked me how to burp Bob (his cousins feed and burp their dolls). I showed him how and he thought it was great. Later I was rocking him while he was drinking his milk from a sippy cup before his nap. After he was done he crawled up and put his head over my shoulder and said "mommy, burp me". I patted his back and he pretended to burp. Then he said "I'm a baby, I need to sleep in baby crib" he then did this fake baby cry and whined "I a baby, I need my mommy". It was cute and he was still good about sleeping in his big boy bed.

I need to pray!!!

I heard Mason yelling something over and over at 5:30 this morning and went in to see what was wrong. He was kneeling by his bed with his arms folded and when he saw me cried "help me pray!" I think he had a nightmare and it somehow involved praying. So I helped him say his prayers and then he crawled back and said "go to mommy's bed mommy". Mason is really getting excited about being a big brother. All day yesterday he carried his Bob doll around, putting it to bed and waking it up. He would tuck it into his bed saying "Bob you need a blanket? Here you go Bob? Want to listen to Thomas stories? Okay, you listen to Thomas stories but have to close your eyes. Go to sleep. Love you Bob". Also yesterday morning, he crawled in bed with me and wanted to see the baby, meaning he pulls my shirt up so he can see my belly. He kept poking it and saying "come play with me baby brother".

Last Night

Mason was at Grandma Delta's Wednesday-Friday of last week and as always had a blast. But, as always, he was exhausted when he came back. Friday night he went to bed at 7:30 and slept in until 8:30 and then had a nap from 2-6 PM. So last night when it was his bedtime at 7:30, he wasn't quite ready. Our schedule of the evening: 7:30--put him to bed. As I was leaving he said "love you mommy" and I said "love you too". He replied, "no! Love you very much". I told him I loved him very much and left the room. 8:15--his daddy got home and went upstairs to get changed. As he walked by Mason's room he peeked in and Mason was lying on the floor next to his bed. He looked up and said "daddy, I fell out bed". Marshall helped him back in bed and said good-night. 8:30--Marshall and I were playing a board game in the kitchen when Mason walked downstairs and said "I'm so hungry, need to eat". Not wanting our poor Mason to starve, w...

Bike Riding

Mason loves riding his little bike, but what he loves most of all is crashing on it! He insists on riding off curbs and crashing over and over again!

Hiding

Image
Mason's favorite thing to do lately is to hide. Everytime he hears one of us coming he says "hide" and immediately rushes to find somewhere to hide. When he can't find anywhere, he will either face a wall or cover his eyes, believing that if he can't see us we can't see him.

Easter Egg Hunt

Image
We had most of Marshall's family over Sunday to watch Conference and for an Easter dinner. We did a little easter egg hunt for the kids and they loved it. Mason mostly just wanted to find the blue eggs, but the other kids wanted to hide theirs over and over again.
