Mason's "Practice Birthday Party"

Image
Maspn's birthday is Monday, but since his grandma and grandpa Goates were here this weekend we had a "practice" birthday party with them, Aunt Maralyn, Juliet, Lincoln, Chris, Jessica, Daniel, and Joy. Before they came he opened his scooter so he could ride it while his grandma and grandpa could see. He is a natural and did a great job! The amazing cake that Joy made! Mason called it his "Thomas cake" Opening presents. . .Myles was very interested. Mason's favorite present was the "Woody" that Grandpa Goates got him. Mason started watching Toy Story last week and Woody is his new best friend. After he opened it, Mason ran upstairs and got his sleeping bag so he could camp with Woody. Dirty hands! Jello Jigglers Myles is going to love his birthday in a few months! Myles wants his own scooter.

The Boys

This is a few weeks ago--Myles likes to crawl up on the train table in the playroom so he can play with Mason. The problem is, when he wants to get down he gets pretty upset. We bought a baby carrier backpack a few days ago to use this summer. Myles loves it! And he's into waving now. Of course Mason needed a turn.

Happy Valentine's Day!

All in all it was a decent Valentine's Day. Mason woke up at 5:30 AM and when he saw the balloon I put outside of his room he screamed and asked "mommy, did you buy me a balloon!? Thank-you mommy!" I let him play in the bathtub while I rested for a few more minutes and then when Myles woke up I took him his balloon. I don't think he ever remembers seeing a balloon before and he was fascinated. He just stared at it all morning. Before their doctor's appointment Mason and I made Valentines for his friends on the street and then we took them around in the afternoon. We also cut out Jello Jigglers, which Mason thought was fun. I actually enjoyed their doctor's appointment because I like seeing how much they grow and being reminded of how blessed I am to have healthy kids. Marshall is in Denver this week, and so Nicole and William came over and we made heart-shaped pizzas for dinner. I miss Marshall a lot and hate being away from him today, but we were able to t...

Back from the Doctor's

Mason and Myles had their well-child checks today and all in all it went pretty well. Mason is almost 3 and is very healthy and strong. He is 36.4 inches tall (22nd percentile) and weights 27 lbs (7th percentile). The doctor wasn't concerned about his weight because it was a jump from the 2nd percentile at his 2nd birthday, and he has really good muscle tone and strength. I was concerned a little about Mason being a little pidgeon-toed, so the doctor checked it out. He is very slightly pidgeon-toed and when he walks his ankles turn out (so he walks on the outside of his feet more). The doctor just said to make sure he always wears good shoes, and to keep him busy and active. He actually suggested a gymnastics class, which I was considering anyway. Myles' head circumfrance was 45.5 cm (44th percentile), he was 18lbs11 oz (13th percentile), and was 29.1 inches long (62nd percentile). So he is a tall but thin boy. He still had quite a bit of fluid in his ears from his last ear i...

Mason's Birthday

I asked Mason the other day what he wanted to do for his birthday (in 2 weeks). He said that he wanted to go to Chuckie Cheese and have the "big kids sing to him" (I think he means the robots) and have everyone sing "Happy Birthday dear Mason" really loudly. I think he remembers Lincoln's birthday at Chuckie Cheese last July. Since then he has reminded me a million times that he wants chocolote cake and to sing "Happy birthday dear Mason" really really loud. I hate Chuckie Cheese so much, but what sacrifices we make for our kids. . .

My Silly Boys!

Myles absolutely loves the piano and would play it all day if I would let him. Of course, as soon as he starts playing, Mason has to join him. What a cute boy! Future Mozart? Okay, when I was a kid I loved Candyland and I was excited when I thought Mason was old enough to play. Well, we got it out this morning and after about a minutes he decided that game was different. He made "blue boy" push "yellow boy" and then "blue boy" had to get a time out. "Yellow boy" was sad so Mason rocked him and sang him a song. Then "green boy" was tired and had to take a nap in Mason's bed. After a few minutes they all were hungry, so Mason got his leftover eggs from breakfast from the table and fed them to all the boys. Not exactly the way I remember Candyland.

Fun at Grandma's House

Image
Mason and Myles went to their Grandma and Grandpa Delta's house from Thursday-Monday and had a blast. Grandma and Grandpa have been working on a job in Kanab and don't get to see them as much, so they were happy to take the boys for a few days so I could study for my big licensure test. Grandpa gives them fruitloops to use as coal for the troublesome trucks. And she built them a fort and let them put the portable dvd player in there so they could watch Thomas. Myles was so happy when Mason had a nap and he got the fort all to himself.

Swimming Lessons

I guess you can't see this very well, but Mason has a blast at swimming lessons!

Model Train Show

Image
A few weeks ago we took Mason and Myles, along with Nicole and William, to the model train show at Thanksgiving Point. Mason was in heaven and almost every train set had a Thomas that Mason loved. At one trainset, Mason just climbed up in the owners chair and asked if he could play. The nice man let him use the controls. Recognize it?
