Dentist

This morning we took the kids to the dentist. It was Myles first time and he was so excited. . .until they started working on him. The day before we practiced sitting in the chair, opening his mouth, etc., but when they started doing his x-rays he freaked out and it took 3 of us to hold him down (I took the picture before he freaked out). After that he wouldn't sit in the chair or open for the dentist so Marshall had to hold him on his lap and they had to pry his mouth open. Anyway, the reason we took him was because one of his baby teeth has just never come in. The x-rays weren't good enough to tell for sure but it looks like there is just no baby tooth there (he says it is genetic--any family members have this problem?) and so we just have to follow-up again in 6 months to make sure there is a permanent tooth coming in. The reason we took Mason was because in April when he went to a different dentist they found 2 caveties that he said needed to be filled "right away...

Memory

Marshall left for Colorado this morning and is gone until Monday. I'm exhausted from being up with Max all night and still recovering from the c-section and so I let Mason and Myles go to Delta while Max and I are home. After Max's doctor's appointment tomorrow we will head down to Delta to be with the big boys and hang out. Today I'm amazed at how easy it is to just take care of one little baby when Mason and Myles are gone. I can just sit on the couch and hold Max all day! But, I didn't always think a newborn was easy. . . When Mason was two weeks old I took my first solo trip out of the house with him to Old Navy in Maryland. Now Mason was a very colicky baby and I had a hard time adjusting to losing my freedom (and sanity) and was really stressed about taking him out. Well, we were walking through Old Navy with Mason sleeping in the stroller when a group of mothers with pre -school age kids came up and ooohed and ahhhed over Mason. They said "isn't it...

You Win. . .First, Second, Third!

For the last month or so everything has been a competition to Mason. Who finishes their lunch first, who gets their pajamas on first, who brushes their teeth first, who gets upstairs first, etc. This started leading to MAJOR tantrums, mostly from Myles who always seemed to "lose" as Mason would love to point out. So a few weeks ago we came up with telling them they both win--but that didn't fly with Mason because of course, there can only be one winner. So a few days ago we discovered that if we tell Mason he wins FIRST and Myles that he wins SECOND both are happy. Now everytime Mason "wins" Myles yells out "and I win second!" and everyone is happy. Then today we were going up the stairs and of course it was a race. Mason came in first, Myles won second, and then when I made it to the top of the stairs carrying Max, both Myles and Mason started jumping up and down shouting "yay!! Max won third!! Yay for Max!!"

Looking for a Babysitter AGAIN!

I don't think our current babysitter is going to work out for a variety of reasons, so once again I am looking for a babysitter for my three boys, Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:40-5:30 at my house near BYU in Provo to start the beginning of September. If any of you know anyone who may be interested, please have them email me ASAP at imapsyc@gmail.com . Thanks!

Maxwell-One Week

Image
Yesterday Max turned 1 week old. My sister in law made him this beautiful sweater and booties to match. We think the whole outfit looks pretty darn cute (thanks Annie)! We also took the whole family for pictures and can't wait to see how they turned out. In honor of Max's one week birthday my mom helped the boys make cupcakes and blow out candles (one of their favorite things to do). Max also had a one week check up. The great news is he has gained 1/2 lb in the 4 days out of the hospital and that he is no longer jaundiced. Everything about him looks perfect. The other news is that we can't clip his tongue because the frenulum is too thick and close to a vein. Fortunately the doctor doubts it will affect his speech and will likely stretch as his mouth grows and be fine eventually. All in all, Max is still an incredibly happy and easy baby and his brothers are thrilled with him!

Home With Max

We decided to come home from the hospital on Friday instead of Saturday and are happy to be home. I guess I just don't think "going home outfits" are a huge deal because here Max is wearing the same one Myles wore 2 years ago. But on Myles it was more like shorts and skin-tight because he was so much bigger than Max. Max weighed 6 lbs 11 oz as of yesterday when we brought him home. I've never seen Mason as excited for anything in his life as we was to have his baby brother home. All day he was examining each little finger and toe, kissing him, holding him, bringing him toys, etc. It clicked for him that this was the baby in my tummy and said "maybe now you won't be sick all day anymore!". Max is a little jaundiced so we had to take him back to the hospital today for another blood test, which came back fine. The other little complication we've had is that since he was born nursing him was incredibly painful for me and frustrating for him. No one at t...

Hello Family of Five!

Announcing the arrival of Maxwell Henry Jones, born August 4th, 2009, 7:31 AM. Weight: 6 lbs 14 oz, Height: 18.75 inches. Max arrived during a perfect C-section with no complications. His Apgars were 9 and 9, revealing him to be healthy and strong. So far Max loves to sleep on his daddy's chest and occasionally try nursing. Mom is recovering well and is thrilled to finally meet her baby boy. Mason and Myles and a few of their cousins dropped by with Grandma and Aunt Candi to meet little Max. Mason was instantly in love with his little brother, and Myles was interested but more interested in water and the candy machine in the hallway. We're so excited to welcome little Maxwell into our family!
