McKay Update

McKay has been with us for 3 weeks now and is doing great. The little chunk continues to eat and grow and at his 2 week check-up weighed 8lb10oz and had grown an inch and a half (to 21.5 inches). This is probably the only time one of our kids will be in the 50th percentile for weight and we are soaking in having a chubby baby. He is nursing well and would really prefer to be nursing 24/7. We are starting to learn other ways to comfort him, but right now the only way he will sleep more than 20 minutes or so is resting on me. We are hoping over Thanksgiving to try putting him in the bassinet by our bed again and just helping him learn to sleep there but we'll see. I sort of think that a 3 week-old gets whatever he wants, but Marshall thinks I'm a pushover :) The other boys are really great with McKay. Mason wants to hold him constantly, and Myles called him "little-me" and says that McKay is him in the past. The first week McKay was home Max said to his dad "si...

McKay Marshall Jones

Monday morning was the big day and boy was I ready! That morning was a little hectic as Mason, who had been sick for a while, woke up in the night with an ear infection, Marshall woke up with a pulled muscle in his neck, and our nanny Hannah texted to say she was super-sick with strep throat. Thank goodness once again it was grandma Delta to the rescue. Here is the rest of the story in the picture captions. We arrived at the hospital at 10 AM, got hooked up to monitors, and then began the terrible process of trying to get an IV in. They tried, and tried, and tried, then finally called the on-call anesthesiologist to try some more. Finally after even he couldn't get it in my arm, they did it in my elbow (where they try to avoid because it makes nursing after hard). Then they pumped me full of fluids and had me walk to the operating room to get my spinal. The anesthesiologist had a student with him and was explaining everything to him which really made me more nervous. At one...

Last Day of Pregnancy!

Tomorrow I go in to the hospital at 10 for my c-section. Of course I am nervous, but mostly excited to see what this little guy is like. I really feel like I have no sense of whether he will be 6 lbs or 10 lbs and I'm really curious! This is about a week and a half later than I've had other c-sections and the last few weeks have been rough. Last night I kept waking up with bad cramps (contractions?) but then once the sunlight hits, they are gone. This experience being pregnant has been different from the others in a really sweet way--the kids are really aware of what is happening and have bonded with the baby just as I have. With other pregnancies the oldest child was 2 or 4 and didn't really get what was going on. I want to record some of the experiences we've had waiting for baby McKay to arrive. This baby is so loved and isn't even born yet! You can tell that Max is a little confused about what it happening. For the last 6 months or so, every few days he asks...

Trick-Or-Treat

The kids wanted to be three ninjas from Mason's favorite Legos "Ninjago." Mason is the green ninja and refused to let me buy him a costume but instead made this up to look just like his lego figure. Myles wanted to be the white ninja, and Max wanted to be the "Fire Ninja".

Carving Pumpkins

We missed my work party where we usually carve pumpkins because I'm on bed rest, but we had a fun time carving pumpkins at home on Monday. Mason and Max both wanted bat signals, and Myles wanted a ghost. They turned out pretty cool. After the kids went to bed, Marshall went crazy carving a Bart Simpson pumpkin. I love my boys.

Byu Football

This year we bought 2 season tickets for BYU Football. I knew I wouldn't be up to going to many games so for the most part Marshall is splitting his with a friend from work. But I was planning on going to the one last Friday until we couldn't get a babysitter. Marshall offered to just let me go but after sitting in a conference for 8 hours I wasn't up to sitting on a cold bench for 4 more hours. So I went out for dinner with some friends and then rushed home so Mason and Marshall could go. In the past Mason hasn't been so thrilled about going to the games, but this time he absolutely loved it. And we won 37-10 I think so it was a good game for Mason to go to.
