Bahamas Cruise and Vegas
It has been quite a week for the Jones family. Marshall and I took off on a 4 night cruise to the Bahamas while Mason and Myles went with their Grandma and Grandpa Delta to Vegas for 3 days. We all had a great time. I don't have any pictures of the boys in Vegas, but by all reports they had a fun time and Mason can't stop talking about sleeping in a hotel and seeing sharks.
Marshall and I came back very relaxed and well-rested after a stressful previous week. On Sunday we flew from Salt Lake to Fort Lauderdale and rented a car. After staying overnight, we drove to the pier in Miami and were among the first group to board the ship. It was a nice warm day and we had a great time exploring the Majesty of the Seas and setting sail out of Miami.

At dinner that night, Marshall was wearing his BYU had when we first sat down and the couple we were randomly assigned to dine with said "are you kidding?" Turns out she went to BYU, they lived in West Jordon for 15 years before moving to North Carolina 5 years ago. There really couldn't have been more than a handful of Mormons on the cruise--mostly they were New Yorkers and Floridians. We had a great time having dinner with them and even hung out with them at other points during out trip.
Tuesday we woke up in Nassau, Bahamas. We didn't really have anything planned to do there, so we took a boat to Paradise Island and toured the Atlantis resort, which was amazing. After taking the boat back to Nassau we visited the Pirate Museum, then the Straw Market, and then boarded the ship again. It was a fun day but we forgot the camera.
Wednesday was suppossed to be our beach day at Royal Carribean's private island Coco Cay, where we planned to snorkel and relax. Unfortunately it was too windy for the tenders to take us to the island so instead we had a sea day sailing around the Bahamas. It turned out to be a great day--we woke up, had breakfast, had a nap, had lunch at Johnny Rockets onboard the ship, slept, woke up for dinner, and then stayed up late and went to all the shows that night. Somewhere in there we also watched the cooking demonstration (now we know why everything tasted so good--liquor in EVERYTHING) and the ice sculpture demonstration.

Since we didn't get to snorkel Wednesday, we decided we would definately snorkel Thursday in Key West. Until we got off the boat and realized it was about 60 degrees and the coldest it had been in Key West in 35 years. The water temperature was 80 degrees, but we decided to stay on land. We took the Conch Train Tour around Key West and had a great time learning about the history of the island. It is definately somewhere I want to return. After tasting the famous Blond Girrafe Key Lime Pie, we headed back to the ship for (what else) another nap before dinner.

Friday we got up early and were among the first to disembark so we could make our flight out of Fort Lauderdale and be home the same day to see the kiddos, whom by then we were missing terribly. All in all it was probably our favorite vacation to date. We loved the food, the shows, the company. While last time we took a cruise I was terribly motion sick, this time I was prepared with all the right medications (already being taken for morning sickness) and I felt fine most of the time. This is definately something we would love to do again!

When we got home it was so nice to hold those little boys in our arms again! And surprisingly, they were happy to see us (usually they are very resistant to leaving their Grandma). Vacations are fun, but we can't stay away too long without missing having our little family together again.
