Off To Waterton

Image
We are off to the "cab" as Mason calls it. Today he made a list of all the things he wanted to do in Waterton this week: * go swimming * give grandpa a hug * go fishing * ride on my new bike * go on a bike ride with grandpa * boat ride on grandpa's boat * hiking * play outside * play in the sandbox * go to the new playground * go to the candy store every day * fly my kite * throw rocks in the late * draw hearts for grandma and grandpa * ride on the tube with my daddy because there are no sharks in the lake

Thomas and Elmo Outsmart the Big Bad Wolf (I hope)

For the last week Myles has been nearly impossible to get to bed. He had such an easy transition to his big boy bed a few months ago that I really thought we were in the clear. But last Tuesday afternoon he had a terrible nightmare about the "big bad wolf" eating him in his bed and since then he would not sleep in his bed for anything. We spent a few nights with him in our bed, then a few nights with him screaming until midnight and then putting him in the crib. Then last Friday or so we talked him into sleeping in his room, but he would only do it if we let him sleep with Mason in his little toddler bed and if he could watch Pete's Dragon in bed. So that worked for a few nights but last night Mason was a stinker and refused to share his bed with Myles. Mason also wouldn't switch beds with Myles and Myles refused to sleep in his own bed. So in a flash of GENIUS Marshall and I switched the mattresses on their beds. Then all of a sudden Mason was happy to sleep in M...

Happy Father's Day Grandpa!

Strawberry Days

Image
We have a family tradition (at least the last 4 years) of going to Strawberry Days in Pleasant Grove. The carnival is right across the street from Marshall's work so usually we go on his lunch hour and have a blast. This year we almost missed it because Marshall stayed home from work sick Thursday and Friday but we made it in between rain showers today, Mason loved the rides and Myles was terrified, so Mason got to use all his tickets. We finally convinced Myles to ride the train with Mason after he watched it for a while. But there was no way he was going to ride the Ferris Wheel with Mason and his daddy. So we went and bought cotton candy instead!

The Big Bad Wolf

Image
Myles has been obsessed with The Three Little Pigs for the last few months and it was fine until this week. This week some dream or something convinced him that there is a big bad wolf in his bed and he is terrified. The second we walk in his room for a nap or bedtime he starts pointing at his bed and screaming "the big bad wolf. . .no! no! no!" If we put him in his bed he bounces out screaming that the wolf will get him. So the first few nights this happened we finally got him to sleep (after hours of rocking and talking to him) in the baby's crib. Then he decided the wolf could get him there too, so last night he came up with a solution. He will sleep in his room if he can sleep with Mason in Mason's bed. We even tried to get them to switch beds but he will only sleep if Mason is in bed with him to "protect him". I was sure they wouldn't make it more than a few minutes but they slept like this last night all night and are trying it again tonight. W...
Good news: Almost a week after my symptoms started the doctor finally figured out it is just strep. The test in the office was negative but is only 96% accurate so they sent another one into the lab and it just came back positive. Good news: I didn't believe the doctor when he said I didn't need antibiotics so I started taking some old ones I had anyway and am feeling a lot better now. Bad news: Marshall has it really bad right now, but the doctor is calling in enough antibiotics for both of us to have a full course so. . . Good news: We should both be feeling better enough to give our talks in church on Sunday. . .or is that bad news? :) Still no results on the mono but I'm feeling more hopeful that it will be negative.

Why I Have the BEST Family Ever!!

I've been really sick since Saturday with some weird virus. My lymph nodes are huge, throat hurts like crazy, can't swallow, body aches, and I'm fighting a fever. The doctor tested for strep but it was negative so he thinks it is mono and I'll have the results tomorrow (hopefully). But in the meantime, I've been miserable and everyone else has been so helpful. Marshall took care of everything this weekend and I sent the kids to the babysitter's yesterday while I stayed home sick from work. But I was really worried about how I would handle the kids on my own today when I was feeling just awful. Marshall let me sleep in until he left at almost 8, and then the kids played really nicely while I slept on the couch in the playroom. At about 10 AM Myles started BEGGING for a nap. I tried to get him to eat something first, but he ran out of the kitchen, got in bed, and told me to shut the door. He slept for 3 HOURS! Which means. . .I slept for 3 HOURS!!! And what about...
