Video For Grandpa Goates (and a few pics)

Image
While Mason was in the hospital, my dad kept emailing him little videos telling Myles to feel better and telling him stories and we would watch them over and over on my iphone in the hospital bed. Myles was so excited about these, and the first few days the only time he smiled was when Grandpa blew him kisses (or when Grandma Delta came to visit). I don't know why my dad can email them no problem but my email won't let me send videos. So I have to post them here. So, this is for Grandpa Goates from Myles. The red marks on his cheeks is from pulling the tape off that was holding the oxygen on. You can tell he is feeling a million times better. And then here are a few not-so-great pics from the hospital. The first one is from when we first got there. I don't think he really looked that pathetic, I was just trying to take a picture with my iphone while holding him and not waking him up. The other pictures are from when he was feeling much better.

We're Home!

Just a quick update--Myles was discharged from the hospital today and is feeling a lot better. The chest x-rays showed he still has fluid in his lungs, but since his fever is down and his oxygen is up we can treat him at home with two different antibiotics and inhalers. His physical therapy is to blow bubbles every hour which he loves, and for us to pound on his chest and back for 5 minutes every hour to break up the guck in the lungs, which surprisingly he also loves. Mason had an allergic reaction to peanuts while in Delta and ended up in the ER this morning but fortunately is now feeling better. We're thankful for all the prayers for us over the last week and are now praying we'll never have a repeat of this week! We still don't know for sure if we'll be taking the cruise--it will depend on the progress Myles makes, but we're hoping next week at this time we'll be lying on a beach.

Quick Update

Some of you may know that Myles was admitted to the hospital yesterday. After 5 days of antibiotics and inhalers his pneumonia was just getting worse. So yesterday we took him back to the doctor's who decided to admit him so that he could do a more aggresive treatment. When we got to Timpanogos Hospital his fever was 105 degrees (even with tylenol in his system) and his oxygen was dangerously low. So they started an IV with fluids and antibiotics, put him on oxygen, and took chest x-rays. In about 4 hours he perked right up and seemed to feel a lot better and we hoped he would be able to go home today. But last night his fever spiked again (103) and this morning when his chest x-rays came back his lungs looked worse than the doctor expected. The doctor said it was not the worst case of childhood pneumonia he has seen, but it was pretty bad. Today he went from feeling pretty lethargic in the morning to actually being able to walk the halls in his little hospital gown with his bum...

Introducing. . .

Image
Baby #3!! I am three months pregnant and today got to see this new little baby and hear the heartbeat. It has been a rough few months with bad morning sickness but it all felt worth it when I saw an actual baby in there today! He/she will be arriving sometime the first week of August. My official due date is August 10th and since I will be doing a repeat c-section he/she will be most likely be born August 4th, 5th, or 6th (the days my doctor does surgeries). So only 28 weeks left to go! Mason and Myles are excited for their new baby. I've had a couple of dreams that it is a boy and just really feel like it will be another boy, but both Mason and Myles pray for a "baby sister" every night. We might have a complicated explanation ahead of us. . .

Finding a Dragon

Image
For the last 6 months or so, Mason has loved the movie Pete's Dragon . A few weeks ago he started telling us that for his birthday (in about a month) he wants a Elliott (the dragon). We've tried talking him into maybe a stuffed dragon or a pretend dragon, but he is really convinced that he wants a real dragon and that he will live in our backyard inside the fence. Everyday he talks about how he wants a dragon for his birthday and it has to have wings, arms, a tale, and breath fire. I've even looked online and can't find any Elliott replicas or stuffed animals. So Marshall got the bright idea that we should go to a pet store and look at lizzards and tell him they are baby dragons, the idea being that Mason is afraid of every animal he has ever encountered and that certainly when he saw the lizzards he would change his mind about wanting a baby dragon. So. . .last night after dinner we went to Pet Smart and looked at Chinese Water Dragons. MASON LOVED THEM!! The kid ...

Marshall Gets Lassik

Image
Marshall finally got Lassik Eye Surgery today after 16 years of wearing contacts for very bad vision. Here is his sad before picture: During: And. . .after! He has to wear these eye shields all day today and then while sleeping for a week. If you could see how Myles attacks his daddy in the morning with hugs and kisses, you would understand why it is a good idea. As soon as he opened his eyes after the surgery he could see better than he could before WITH his glasses on! We go back for a check-up tomorrow morning and then keep up a regiment of eye drops for a few months (right now every 20 minutes for one, 1 hour for another, and 4 hours for another). The place we got it done at has free enhancements for a lifetime so if his eyes change (which they often do with time), they will fix it again for free. They also let us use our cafeteria plan which means that we paid for it all pre-taxes over the last year. Yay for Marshall! Oh, and the kids are in Delta until Monday. Deb called and a...

My Little Sunbeam!

Image
Mason is finally a Sunbeam! After being the oldest in the Nursery class for about a year, he was so excited to start going to Primary. During Sacrament meeting he colored a picture and told me it was for his Sunbeams teacher. When he got into the primary room the primary president told him where to sit. He sat down, then noticed the man playing piano. He jumped right up and gave him the picture which he happily took. After he sat down he started looking around him and noticed a woman sitting on his row. He looked back at me and asked "is that my teacher?" I told him it was and so he jumped up, went right over to the man playing piano and said "I'm going to need that picture back." The man gave it back and he ran over and gave it to his teacher.
